Backyard Summer Wedding in Washington
Weddings may be smaller and more intimate this year, but they are still beautiful. Lauren and Ryan decided on a sweet backyard summer wedding in Washington. I am so grateful to these two for trusting me with their engagement portraits, wedding date announcements, and their wedding day.
I first met this awesome couple at Lauren’s friend’s wedding a few summers ago, and she was yet to be engaged! Fast forward a few years, and not only did she get engaged in Italy (so romantic!), but these two also made a baby to join in on the fun. They now have the cutest little baby girl, Nora, who I had the pleasure of photographing as a newborn.
Fall Engagement Session in Washington
When these two decided to make things official, we had a beautiful fall engagement session. Lauren got to show off her stunning engagement ring, and the three of them were all smiles! How cute are they in matching flannel outfits? And to prepare her for being the flower girl, they dressed Miss Nora in a fluffy white tutu. So fun!
Seeing this family of three celebrate together was so sweet. I simply love fall engagement sessions in the PNW. The leaves were golden and covered the ground, and the sunlight was shining through the tress.
These two used their engagement session as a chance to announce their wedding date: July 25th, 2020. We started the countdown!
Wedding Planning During a Pandemic
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this sweet couple had to shift their plans last summer and scale down their wedding. They decided to keep their original wedding date and have a small wedding in Lauren’s parents’ backyard in Woodinville. They’ll have a big wedding and reception next year, and I simply can’t wait! Even sweeter, Lauren just had baby number two (the cutest little man!), so they’ll have two little ones at the ceremony.
Outdoor Washington Wedding
We lucked out with a perfect summer day for this backyard wedding. Lauren and Ryan got to get ready for their big day with their closest family and friends. Lauren chose a stunning lace wedding dress with incredible embroidery and a gorgeous veil.
Lauren was such a beautiful bride! She wore her gorgeous long hair down in curls and opted for glam makeup and delicate jewelry. Miss Nora wore a little ivory ballgown with lace detail to match her sweet mama. And Ryan looked so handsome in his grey suit and blush pink tie.
The newlyweds opted for portraits by the water, with the sun shining across the lake. We also took portraits in the gazebo and enjoyed the gorgeous day. These two were so relaxed!
Wedding Day Traditions
Having a small backyard wedding means that you can choose what traditions matter most to you, and which ones you want to skip. These two had a sweet first dance on the grass as their wedding guests looked on. It was so awesome to see them surrounded by love! And it may not have been the day they originally envisioned, but it was absolutely perfect.
Bride and Groom Portraits
There is so much lush greenery in Woodinville, and I whisked these two away for some gorgeous portraits in the beautiful summer light. I love giving my couples some time away from guests (even at a small wedding) so that they can soak up the moment. Your wedding day will fly by, and scheduling time for bride and groom portraits will give you a minute to yourselves to celebrate.
Backyard Wedding Reception
Lauren and Ryan ended the day with a backyard wedding reception, complete with a father-daughter dance and visiting with their guests. Their day was filled with love and plenty of laughter, and I can’t wait to celebrate them again next year!
