What to Wear for Holiday Portraits
This year is going by so fast, and it is already time to start thinking about what to wear for holiday portraits. Scheduling an annual session can be a great way to make memories with your family. And the portraits will be simply perfect to use on your holiday cards! I recommend booking your AHP family portrait session as soon as possible – the holidays will be here before you know it.
Fun Ideas for Holiday Sessions
Cute winter-themed shoots are perfect for holiday cards. I love doing in-home and studio sessions with families. If we do an in-home session, you can go ahead and get the holiday décor out – even if it feels early! Not only will this give your portraits a festive look, but it will also make you all the more prepared for the holidays. We have a ton of different backdrops, props, and accessories to use at Studio 253 to bring your holiday portrait session to life.
Casual Outfit Ideas for Family Portraits
There are so many options for what to wear for holiday portraits. Consider your personal style and what you want your holiday cards to look like. Fun matching jammies can be so cute in holiday portraits! There are so many different themed pajama sets out there – from striped elf pajamas to cozy flannel sets. And you can top it off with a Santa hat or reindeer antlers.
If you want to opt for casual portraits without wearing pajamas, you can do that! Wearing nice jeans and cozy sweaters is a classic approach to what to wear for holiday portraits. Ladies can accessorize with delicate jewelry, boots, and a fresh manicure. And the guys always look nice in a button-up, jeans, and dress shoes. You can also choose to do a couple of different outfits, including a casual one and a formal one.
Dressy Outfit Ideas for Family Portraits
Having at least part of your session in dressy outfits is a good idea. Coordinate with your family members to pick a winter color palette (you can find more tips on this on the blog here). Black, white, and other neutrals are always classic. The girls may want to wear little black dresses, while the guys can wear white button-ups and black slacks. This will give your portraits a timeless look.
Candid and Posed Family Portraits
With each AHP family portrait session, we strive to capture your family dynamics and each individual’s personality! We take posed photos with the whole family and as individuals. We also have a ton of fun. I simply love capturing families laughing and having fun together – and yes, we can sneak in a couple of silly poses, too!
Wall Art and Heirloom Products
One of the perks of booking with AHP is that I offer heirloom-quality prints, wall art, and other products. After your session, I’ll work with you to pick your favorite portraits and share your options for wall hangings and more. Investing in printed photos and wall art ensures that you are able to cherish your family portraits for years to come. I love seeing how my clients choose to decorate their homes with their family portraits.
