There are so many gorgeous elements of living in Washington, and this ah-mazing Point Defiance engagement session showcases all of them. Allison and Austin wanted a true PNW vibe for their session, complete with tall evergreen trees, grey skies, and a rocky beach. We chose Point Defiance and Owen Beach because they checked all those boxes! I had so much fun exploring with these two as they celebrated their engagement.
Late August Portraits
Allison and Austin chose to have their portraits done in late August. I simply love summer in the PNW, and we had gorgeous sunlight peeking through the trees for their entire session. They kicked things off with coordinated casual outfits. I always recommend selecting a color palette for your portraits and choosing from it, rather than wearing the same color. These two chose shades of white, khaki, golden yellow, and blue for their color palette. The result was a cohesive look.
Allison’s golden blouse looked gorgeous in the sunlight. And they were both comfortable for their portraits. Since we were walking along dirt trails and exploring mossy areas before heading down to the beach, their casual attire was perfect.
The Trails at Point Defiance
Point Defiance has several trails that are easy to walk. We wandered through the forest, stopping to soak in the sun. These two are such a perfect match, and I simply loved capturing them in their element. You can tell how much they love each other, and how much they love being outside. Hiking is such an awesome part of living in the PNW, and I am so grateful these two brought me along!
There was a ton of lush greenery in the park, including tall grass and ferns. These two had so much fun walking through it all. They could not stop smiling! Engagement sessions are so important. It’s a way to celebrate your commitment to each other before your wedding. And you’ll end up with timeless portraits to cherish for years to come.
Owen Beach Engagement Portraits
After walking through the forest, we headed down to Owen Beach for some portraits by the water. Owen Beach is simply beautiful. There is a ton of driftwood, and the rocky beach exemplifies being by the water in the PNW. These two watched the waves and we captured some romantic portraits! A big red heart by the beach was the perfect spot to end their ah-mazing engagement session.
