Late July Family Portraits
Going back through these late July family portraits truly makes me smile. I love seeing families together and having fun! These family photos were taken for one of my Class of 2022 Model Team girls, Miss Aubrey. One of the perks of being on the team is getting a family portrait session during your senior year! Her family chose to have theirs done at the gorgeous Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood. Getting to spend time with Aubrey and her family was such a treat, and I am so happy they trusted me to capture this special moment in their life!
Ft. Stilly Summer Session
Summertime at Ft. Stilly normally means tons of tall dried grass. Though we love that summery look, for this session, we lucked out on having tons of PNW greenery left. Thanks to the rainy June last year. The bright foliage made each picture look almost like a painting! We made sure to make the most out of this great outdoor portrait location and got tons of photos in the tall grasses, with the picturesque logs, and even the rustic farm building. Getting so many fun photos is easy work with a family that is up for anything! To check out more Ft. Stilly family portrait sessions like theirs, head over to the AHP blog!
What to Wear For Your Family Photos
The best advice I can give when it comes to selecting what to wear for your family photos (or any photos really!) is to wear something that feels authentic to you. Your family is unique, so what you choose to wear will be too. Pick colors, styles, and shoes that work for you! Whether that is summery and casual, or you want a more formal, dressed-up look for your portraits. Aubrey and her family went with a perfect in-between. Having the girls match in cute Birks, the father and son in button-ups, and their lovely mom dressed in a stunning bright red top! You don’t have to all be matching, but having a few cohesive elements will help the photos look that much more put together!
Documenting Your Family Throughout the Years
One of the main reasons I have families come in every year or every other year is to document the family as they grow and change. This is particularly important for families with little kids or older kids who are about to leave the house! Families also love using these photos in their home decor or as gifts to relatives. I can’t tell you how much I love getting a text from a parent and seeing their beautiful family portrait hanging up on their wall! It makes my day knowing these moments will live on in their family for years to come. For more information on how to get started planning your family portraits, head to the bottom of the page!
