Ft. Stilly Family Portraits
This past Fall, I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Dunigan Family for their Ft. Stilly family portraits! Their daughter, Hannah, is on the Class of 2022 Model Team, and I was so happy to be able to capture this important moment for her and her family before she leaves for college. We are all going to miss her so much! Time just goes by too fast!
Magic Hour Light
For the Dunigan’s family portrait session, I took them to one of the best spots to capture golden hour in the Tacoma area: Fort Steilacoom. Magic hour is the few hours before sunset when the sunlight is just perfect for photos. It’s aptly named because it has the ability to work its magic on everything it touches and plus, is just so yummy (no other way to describe it!). This session was done on October 30th, and was simply AH-mazing! Especially with that golden, fall sunlight and gorgeous natural surroundings of Ft. Stilly! While this may be a popular portrait spot for all types of sessions, it has so many great family-friendly areas! I just love the bright red twin silos and rustic fences!
Dog-Friendly Photoshoots
It wouldn’t be a full family portrait session if we didn’t make space for the Dunigan’s two loveable dogs! If you are anything like us, your furry friends are just as much a part of your family as your human family members. So it makes sense that you’d want them to be showcased just as prominently in all your family memories! While it is important to consider dog-friendly locations, with just a bit of planning beforehand, we can make sure your furry family members are taken care of! We even have a lighting assistant/dog wrangler on hand to keep an eye on your pups while you get a few shots without them. Plus, pets always make for great props and elements of fun to switch up your looks! Not to mention some mid-shoot snuggles!
Capturing Yearly Memories
There are infinite reasons why having family portraits taken is important. For the Dunigan’s, it was a chance to snap some family shots with their baby before she goes off to college!! If you have kids, getting photos taken yearly is crucial. Kids change so much throughout those years, and are grown up and leaving the house before you know it! While we can’t hold on to them forever, we can keep the memories safely stored in our hearts (and the family picture album to bring out when they stop home with friends!!). Whether you want a fun, laid-back mini session, a studio shoot, or anything in between, I would love to help you capture your family memories in a way that honors your unique family dynamic!
