The Boss Babe Series

As a female entrepreneur, I simply love meeting other Boss Babes who are passionate about the work they are doing. Supporting small, women-owned businesses is so important to me, and I am excited to feature a few of my favorites in my new Boss Babe Series. I have gotten to know these ah-mazing women through taking their business portraits and interviewing them. I am so grateful that they trusted me with the process. This week, I am featuring Amanda Moore of Amanda’s Virtual Assisting (AVA).

Amanda’s Virtual Assisting (AVA)

Amanda Moore is a virtual assistant located in Bonney Lake. She specializes in resume services and social media management. With a BS, MBA in Business Administration, and a BA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, Amanda has a strong educational background. She spent three years with The White House Military Office for The Presidential Retreat “Camp David” and reviewed and interviewed candidates. In her current organization, she is a hiring manager. She has experience reviewing resumes and conducting interviews for the Pierce County Library System.

With her extensive background, Amanda is particularly qualified for crafting resumes that get job applicants noticed. She focuses on details so that others don’t have to. And she can either take a current resume and give it a complete overhaul or create a resume from scratch. She is also talented at creating cover letters to go along with the updated resume. And she has experience optimizing LinkedIn profiles to make sure clients are putting their best foot forward.

Getting to Know This Boss Babe

Amanda served in the Navy for 11 years. She attributes her success to continuing to develop herself professionally and personally.  She also relies on the support of her family members, who understand the importance of her business and cheer her on when times are hard.

How She Started Her Business

This boss babe started AVA because she loves paperwork and knows that many people dislike it. Many job applicants don’t know where to start when it comes to their resume, or they find a generic template and paste in information. By doing this, they could potentially leave out information that would get them hired.

Amanda gets to know her clients and what they’re looking for in a future career. She uses that information to create a resume that perfectly fits them. Amanda loves helping others, and when she is contacted by a client to say they received a job offer using the cover letter and resume she created, it brings her so much joy. This boss babe is happy to know she has played a role in the success of her clients.

Establishing a Niche

Establishing a niche in any industry is incredibly important. When Amanda started offering resume services, she wanted to not just offer standard resumes. She wanted something that could set her apart. By using her military experience and seeing a gap within the industry, she was able to step into this market and stand out.

In the future, Amanda would love to expand to other types of resumes, specifically specialty resumes for federal positions. She would also like to take on small businesses for social media management and help them navigate platforms and create social media content.

Her Ideal Client

While Amanda’s resume services are for anyone in the job market, she specializes in crafting resumes and cover letters for transitioning military members and veterans. She understands that it can be challenging to convert military experience into verbiage that everyone can understand. As a veteran herself, she has been in their shoes. Her prior experience allows her to craft resumes that highlight the background and experience of veterans and assist them in their job searches.

Boss Babe Advice

Amanda’s advice for herself and other boss babes comes from her mentor, Jasmine Star: “Just do the dang thing and do it scared.” You don’t need to be 100% ready; you can just jump in and go. You’ll learn along the way what works for you. This advice has taken her far, and she continues to make a difference in the lives and careers of others.
