Winter Maternity Shoot
Hannah and Matt reached out to me this past February for their adorable winter maternity shoot. Of course, I had to say yes! I have known this family for a long time. I photographed their wedding, their sister’s high school and college graduation photos, and more!! I simply LOVE these two and could not miss out on one of their big life events. This lovely young couple was pregnant with their first baby and I was so happy to celebrate this huge occasion with them!
Gig Harbor Portraits
Hannah is from Gig Harbor, so we decided on that location for their session. What could be a more perfect setting? We captured those lovely PNW forest and beach vibes at the same time! Their maternity photos were scheduled for the end of February, so it was a tad chilly. The winter weather didn’t stop Hannah from going barefoot for a few shots though. This fun, outdoorsy momma-to-be wasn’t daunted by the cold, and even hopped into the water for a portrait or two!! What a boss momma! I love how those shots turned out.
Cute February Fashion
For her cute maternity wardrobe, Hannah picked out a lovely dress in a great pop of color– mustard yellow. Especially in the wintertime, when the bright colors of fall and spring have gone, selecting a fun and bold color is a great way to go for your portraits. Not only is this color so in right now, but it also went perfectly with Hannah’s gorgeous, long, red hair! I am a bit biased being a redhead myself, but I love, love, loved it! Matt selected a light blue button-up and dark slacks to compliment his wife’s outfit. The shirt went so well with the couple’s blue eyes and helped pull out the colors of Puget Sound in the background. Such a cute couple!
Staying Warm During a Winter Session
Living in WA, sometimes we have to balance the weather with our cute outfits, and I think this couple handled the task perfectly! True to form, the dress and button-up weren’t quite enough protection from the cold, and we had to put on our puffy jackets at the end. Would it be February in Washington without needing a jacket?? BRR! But we didn’t let that stop us from getting the rest of our great photos. Thanks, Patagonia! Hannah and Matt rocked their jackets and it just added to their cuddly portraits.
Growing with My Clients
One of the best parts of this job is getting to see my clients grow throughout their lives. From high school to college, weddings to babies, and all the family photos in between! Getting to watch families change with my repeat clients is SO rewarding! We get to know each other’s style and become more comfortable around one another. I love that families trust me with their big life moments, and I love even more seeing their awesome lives unfold year after year! Congratulations to Hannah and Matt!
