Tacoma Engagement Portraits in the Summer | AHP

Engagements

August 30, 2020

I have so much fun taking engagement portraits in the summer in Tacoma. The city is bright and vibrant. Though I love shooting in the two or three hours before sunset for that yummy golden light, I made an exception for Emily and Jordan’s summer engagement session in 2018. We shot their fun engagement portraits in the daylight and the weather cooperated. Just wait until you see how awesome the PNW sun and sky were for this session!

Getting to Know Each Other

Every AHP wedding collection includes a free engagement session. This is an ah-mazing way for me to get to know my clients, and for them to get to know me. Emily and Jordan decided to have two different engagement sessions with me and this was their second one. We had really gotten to know each other by this shoot, which made it all the more fun and relaxed.

I knew Emily and Jordan were my kind of people when I realized they love cats, too. We bonded over our fondness for crazy orange cats and shared stories about our fur-babies. These two are college sweethearts and have built an amazing life together. They just added a baby into the mix this year! I am so grateful that they chose me to capture their engagement and their awesome wedding day.

Urban Engagement Portraits

We had so much fun walking around near Anthem Coffee and UW Tacoma on this gorgeous sunny day. These two picked up their favorite lattes and sat down together for some relaxed engagement portraits before we adventured around the city. We took advantage of the awesome architecture throughout Tacoma for this urban e-session. And I just love the outfits that Emily and Jordan chose!

Summer Engagement Portrait Outfits

Emily and Jordan kept it casual for their engagement session, and I think their outfits were perfect for the sunny weather. They kept their outfits in the same color palette, pairing blue and black layers together for some portraits and maroon and white layers for others. Don’t feel like you and your significant other have to wear the same color or match exactly for your portraits. If you pick a color palette and mix and match, your portraits will have more variety and they will feel timeless!
